(Disclosure: yes, that is the name of my last book).<BR/><BR/>John D. Rockefeller said it best: " Giving should be entered into in the same careful way as investing ... Giving IS investing."<BR/><BR/>And like investing, there are a number of factors to consider: philanthropic focus, geography, scope, risk tolerance, application of funding. And that's BEFORE you even start thinking about a specific charity.<BR/><BR/>Once you get to narrowing down the specific charities to consider, you have to vet them -- going to Charity Navigator or looking at their 990 is not considered serious vetting.
